Ode to Cody !
This picture was taken at Bo and Lori's shortly after they were killed. It shows two things that our son was extremely proud of - his country and the 101st AirBorne. Bo was a fighter from birth, a premie who almost died during delivery. He and I fought a long hard fight together in the delivery room and weeks after just to keep him alive. He almost died at the age of two from a near drowning and again years later under a garage door. Each time GOD allowed me to be the one to pull him from the entrance to death's door and come back home to us.
On that day in April, Bo was constantly on my mind, seemed like every second of that day his Dad and I were talking about him, praying for him and just well, he was just there. It was in the air an ominous sense of something developing, but unsure how to put your finger on it. Bo was a fighter that day too, but his fight was over his journey on this earth was done. His fight was finished and his ride to HEAVEN had begun.
One of the hardest parts of that day for me was not being able to be there to be beside him. To help him, to rescue him, to comfort him, to hold him as I had always done thru out his life. D always said there is nothing and he meant nothing like a mother and son love. Him and his Mother had something very special, I see the same with Jill and the boys, Debbie and James, they will tell you there is nothing like a mother son love - nothing.
Today is the 10th year anniversary of the death of a dear dear friend of mines son - Cody. She also was not present when Cody died, she also has had to bear a loss so hard and profound that her heart has not mended it has only been patched. This is a Mother who was doing the LORD's work when she received the news of her sons early and untimely death.
However, she has never taken her eyes off the cross, never failed to continue to love her FATHER and never ever not given GOD the glory HE so richly deserves.
Pat is an amazing Mother who loves the children who are still living, but mourns and grieves for the son who is no longer walking this earth. Cody's HEAVEN date is a day that has caused her to always be aware of the empty place at the table, the birthday's not celebrated, the change in Christmas celebration and a space in her heart that never completely fills up no matter what she does.
Pat will continue to praise her GOD, she will continue to get up each and everyday and do what ever it is that GOD calls upon her to do because she has a servant's heart. She is in no hurry to leave those she loves, but she is ready to rejoice and celebrate when she is called home to see her beautiful son Cody standing at the gates next to Jesus and her husband Bob ready to welcome her home.
I love you Pat !
