Tonight I had a date with Ian Colby - my main man next to Carter Dean - what a GREAT time we had. He is so much fun to be with one on one. It is like time stands still and there is no one else in the universe but us. We just connect, it's fun, intense at times but always, always extreme chaos.
Before we left, Carter Dean wanted to go so bad, he offered to sit in the car and wait while Ian and I had our date. How sweet is that? Of course it broke my heart, but Carter Dean and I have a date day later next week to go see Cars 2. He has a chance to go with his school, but no way - he isn't going with any one but his Tata. Love that boy - we have been planning this since we first heard about the movie.
We went shopping at Office Depot - one of my fav places to shop. I have a thing for office supplies - can't have enough of the the latest and greatest things and Ian of course needed just the right fancy flashlight for camp. We were in that store for over an hour and half, laughing, joking, pushing each other and irritating the store staff. We were looking for some mice - cracking up because we couldn't get anyone to show us were they kept the pet supplies. Our humor is warped of course, but it is who we are. ,
Off to Jose's for margarita's chips and salsa. We saw Will, Tammy and family - a great surprise to an already AWESOME evening. They treated us to dinner - nice.
Fun City for fun of course. We were on a role tonight let me tell you. We played minature golf, and lots of those silly games that you throw your money away on. It's called fun, spoiling and being a kid. I put a token in a game and Ian said "I don't like this one." I said "I'm sorry" - Wow, he hit the jackpot about that time for 200 tickets. On and on it went, tickets after tickets, no rhyme or reason and we were irritating this one lady so bad because we were winning without any effort and not really caring. I try to teach the boys that it's just so much more fun to have fun that to get all wrapped up in winning. Ian told me I was his good luck charm and I told him that when he turned 21 I was taking him gambling with me. He said why so he could drive? I said "yeah and I can have a drink." He said "why did I suggest that." and we cracked up. Off to win more tickets. By the end of the night, we had won over 2000 tickets and I didn't spend over thirty dollars for tokens, pizza for a growning boy and drinks.
It was time to go and Ian Colby is the best big brother, he used his tickets and the first thing he got was a sword for Carter Dean and a stuffed character for him because Carter Dean has a bad summer cold. He is one of the most unselfish kids I have ever known.
Date day is over, I took him home and he didn't even kiss me good night at the door. I had to carry all the stuff he got in and then in all the excitement of everything I got a quick "I love you and a hug."
My heart is full, my soul is joyful, my memories are sweet.
Date Day was a success.
