Angel or Man ?

He was about 6'4", thin as a rail, skin as dark as the night, wearing a beautifully tailored suit, pressed white shirt and pencil thin tie. His hair was cropped short and close to the scalp speckled with bits of white close to his aged face. His eyes were dark as a beautiful cup of expresso coffee. His hands were calloused and rough, fingers long like a concert pianist and when he spoke his voice was rough like sand paper, but yet not unpleasant to listen to. His name is Elder Gray.

I can't tell you where I met him, I can't much of what happened because many of you would be shocked and disapprove and I don't believe that is what matters. What I believe that matters is that I may have had the pleasure of being in the company of an Angel today.

Hebrews 13:2 - Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it.

Elder Gray is on a journey to Memphis to reunite with family, his walkabout - Elder Gray is a man of faith relying on his faith in GOD to see him put one foot in front of the other - I to rely on GOD to take one step at a time. Elder Gray spends his life witnessing, worshipping, praising and serving GOD.

Elder Gray shared his faith, his love of GOD and his joy in being a Child of GOD with me. Our encounter was brief, Elder Gray sang to me,talked in rhymes, offered me some of his meager food and beverages and blessed me by his presences. Upon parting, I prayed over Elder Gray, thanked him for blessing me with our brief but beautiful encounter and we parted ways.

Elder Gray remains in my mind constantly today, I have lifted him up to the LORD many times for his safety, his journey, his family's concerns and thanked GOD for bringing him into my life. Somewhere today Elder Gray changed me I hope it's not just for today, but for everyday. Every where I look for the remainder of the day I have met people with a different face, a different heart and a different desire. I want to be someone's Elder Gray. I want to be the one that when I leave a stranger they wonder - was that a real person or an angel I just encountered.

Thank you God for Elder Gray - thank you for the beauty of today and the blessing of entertaining strangers.
