Today's headline should read "Friendly fire prevented local soldier from reaching his 34th birthday."
Today is and always will be Bo's birthday no one and nothing can take that away from him, but he will never grow old, he will never see another birthday present, blow out another birthday candle or hear another silly birthday song sung to him here on earth because......well, he was killed by "friendly fire"
Many of you many not know that Bo was killed by another veteran. He and Lori were killed in an accident that I know, but an accident means " anything that happens suddenly or by chance without an apparent cause" - people say "it was such an unfortunate accident"
Yes, it was but it just recently hit me that my son who was so proud to have served his country, so proud to have survived the Iraq war, so proud to have returned with all his soldiers unharmed, would be killed by another veteran. What are the chances that my son would return home only to be wiped off the face of this earth by another veteran. Not only a random act of "friendly" fire, but a man who by all means was under the legal influence of medication for possible war related injuries, this man is possibly a DAV.
Bo and Lori had just spent the day working to support and help DAV members and in turn lost their lives at the hands of possibly another DAV member - all roads lead back to the same path if you follow the trail long enough.
Why am I telling you this, I am not sure except to say that today is and always will be Bo's birthday. Nothing not even a random act of "friendly fire" can change that. You never know whose path you will cross, whose life you will touch and where the road will lead you.
Charles Stanley says that "Time is a gift from GOD. We are not owners but stewards who will one day be held accountable for how we used what was entrusted to us."
Today I am going to spend the day with a family who's brother was killed during the VietNam conflict, honoring a 21 year old man who was killed by hostile fire. Their pain is as intense as extreme and as heartfelt as mine. Today we will be joined in our grief as we celebrate the lives of our young soldiers who passed this life to soon but touched our hearts so profoundly in such a short time.
Happy Birthday Bo !
PEACE OUT ! - SEE YOU IN HEAVEN !!!!
