Identity Crisis

Lucy and Desi, George and Gracie, Fred and Ginger, Ethel and Fred - when you heard one name, you always seemed to hear the other. Even after one person in the duel or couple passed away, years later, you still thought of them as two.

You never really thought of Lucille Ball without images of Desi popping in your mind. George Burns love for Gracie was historical, "Good night Gracie, Good Night George" they had a love that transcended time.

The list of great partner teams goes on and on, some married some not but if you search your mind I am sure you will find many many more. To me, there is another great couple for this list and it is D and Jannie.

I never think of one without the other, our names don't sound right unless you say them together, they don't look right unless they are written together and I don't see myself without him right beside me. D and Jannie - he was my George and I was his Gracie.

However, after one part of a great team dies the other half goes thru a major identity crisis. My first replacement checks came from the bank without D's name on them. After 25 years, his name no longer appears beside my where it has for so long. After 25 years, people don't see him beside me and begin to think of me as only one, where I still see myself as two.

It's stupid to some but still sign my cards and letters from David and Jannie because everything I have is still ours by the blessings of GOD.

Will I ever become a one-only GOD knows but for now I see myself as a two. It's something that I have to work thru in my time and no one knows how long it will take, what it will take and what's in store for me.

For now, I believe that others have more of a problem with my identity crisis than I do. I love being Mrs. David Bibb - my George to his Gracie !!!
