I didn't fall in love with it as a child, I fell in love with it when I had a child. Even though my nickname all my life has been Pooh, it wasn't until I had a child that a began to see the beauty and wonder of Pooh Bear. The love that he and Christopher Robin had for one another. The stories of friendship, fun, mischief, joy, laughter, excitement and love in Pooh's Corner.
Who taught me to love Winnie the Pooh - Bo, tonight as I listened to this song, tears streamed down my face as I was whisked to that very special, special time in our lives - the first family date that Bo, Jill, D and I went on. We took the kids to see a Pooh movie. It was so special, the first time they had met, the first time they ever went to a movie and didn't want to sit with their parents, I can still hear Bo telling Jill "I'll hold you hand in case you get scared." then he sang the whole song loudly everytime it came on.
It was magical - it was the start of their bond as brother and sister - Winnie the Pooh, he worked his magic, they would become as Pooh and Piglet inseparable after that. Twins by marriage, best friends, confidants, D and I would become their Christopher Robins, their protectors, their safe places to come home to.
When I hear this song I am transported back to that movie date night, I see my small children walking hand in hand down the aisle their first adventure together just beginning, so many more to come, so much more life ahead, so many more memories, so much more Pooh time.
Then I cry because I cherish the beauty of that memory and the thankfulness with which I praise GOD for gifting me with two such amazing children who came together in the days of Christopher Robin and Pooh. I close my eyes and still hear their laughter.
As the words of the song say "It's hard to explain how a few precious things seem to follow us through all our lives."
