It's amazing reflecting back on the number of Valentine's Days D and I have spent together. The anticipation, the gifts, the roses, the candy, the jewelry, the trips, the love letters, promises shared and promises broken. Yet, nothing is as heartfelt or anticipated as tomorrow's Valentine's Day - it won't be a day of roses, candy, jewelry or love letters.
It will be a day of waiting, anxious moments, tests and giving the same answers to the same questions over and over. Quiet reassurances to a beautiful man who is slowly slipping away before my very eyes. I will hold his hand, stroke his cheek, kiss his face and whisper I love you over and over. I will repeatedly tell him everything will be ok as I wipe the tears from his eyes as he tells me he is afraid and so tired of the ups and downs of this disease. I will explain how unnecessary it is for him to say I am sorry because love truly means never having to say I am sorry.
Tomorrow will be one of the most meaningful Valentine's Days of my life because I know that the greatest gift is that the love that is apparent in every look, touch, tear, smile and kiss that I receive from D. It doesn't need a big red bow, the taste of chocolate or the sparkle of any diamond to make it shine - it's all wrapped up the the GLORY of GOD and is HIS gift to D & and me.
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY !

I'm reading this with tears streaming down my face. You have been there through it all, holding onto each other and your faith keeping you both strong. Friends and family want to help but it's really just the two of you climbing this mountain. Jannie, you are an instrument of God's everlasting love and only by his grace will you find the strength to face this. I want to tell you how much you inspire others. We read your posts and we can't imagine walking the path you and David have had to face. This blog will be yet another way to witness and share, intensely personal and hard for us to read. Sending you love and hugs, praying for you and David.b
I just wanted to say that I also cried reading this. It is very touching, especially to read about your faith. You are truly an inspiration and I love you guys. You all are in my prayers... always..
Thanks for showing what real love is all about..
