2 + 2 doesn't always equal 4, today 2 grandsons + 2 parents equalled so much more than just 4 people. It was a van full of happiness, laughter, joy, sillness and FUN !
The day started off with a quick shower over at the Jackson house, rushing back home to get ready then off to Ian's graduation. We barely made it in time, but we got there just as the activity started - that's the Jackson way - just by the bell - laughing and having fun all the way to the door.
I have become that woman - the one who sits in the backseat with the grandkids and pesters them while the parents sit up front, talk and basically ignore us. The boys and I are having a blast. Ian was so proud I was going. It's a party in the van, a birthday party. After graduation it's off to Old Navy to buy clothes that fit - not for me for the boys !!!! Carter Dean and Ian fight over who is going to talk to me first - I LOVE IT !!! Told you I have the GREATEST grandsons in the world !!!! The boys are kicking balls around in the store - Imagine - Jeremy tells them they don't need any more and to put them back unaware that Tata has given both of them some money for whatever they wanted and guess what they wanted. That's right - Balls !!!! and a new T-shirt ! Jill has taught these boys well, they love to shop as much as she does.
Off to ShoGun's for Birthday Boy's lunch. Can't believe it, but Ian is now 9 years old. Oh how I wish D was here to share in this celebration. Carter Dean and Ian are so much fun today he would really have enjoyed every minute of this. He would have tormented both of them so much it would have been extra special for them. Carter Dean is Mr. Personality talking to everyone and interacting with the Chef at the grill, Ian is less sociable, but more attune to his surroundings, catching everything going on at the near by grills and parties. Their differences are blessings and very entertaining.
After lunch we head to Target for just a little more shopping, the boys and I head to the toys, our favorite place. What fun we have scoping out the new Legos, Nintendo 3-D games and boardgames. We are busy playing with all the toys and what do I spy ? Oh I am so excited I can't believe it. Something I have been looking at on line, didn't realize Target had them and I am so EXCITED.... Ian is too.
Schwinn bikes !!!!! Ian, Carter Dean and I are checking out the bikes. I want a bike so that Ian and I can go bike riding. Just a regular girls bike with a big seat for my big butt and regular handlebars. Jeremy comes over and helps pull the bikes off the racks. Some are so tall I almost fall over. Ian picks the Hybrid but it is a 28" and there is no way I can ride it, I can barely get on it..it is hilarious. They say once you learn it will come back to you..well, I didn't take off in the store. We finally decide on the purple comfort ride. Ian is so proud, he pushes it all the way to the register for me. Needless to say I am pretty excited. A new bike for Ian's birthday ! How kind of him to treat me so well. That boy does love his Tata.
When we get home, Jeremy lowers the seat, Ian and I take off for our first bike ride. The boy is going to have to learn to slow down for old women on purple bikes. It was fun and a beautiful way to spend the day with a wonderful grandson.
After bike riding, it was time to play baseball with another wonderful grandson Carter Dean. He is such a profoundly talented little ballplayer and wants real pitches. Not so much anymore after I hit him. Hope he will let me play with him again sometime.
All in all it has been a most glorious, blessed and beautful day. The only way today would have been perfect, well I won't go there because today is a day of thanksgiving, gladness and goodness.
Thank you GOD for my wonderful family and the gift of having them so close to me, for the favor they find in my company and for the joy they bring to my heart. Amen
