In The Presence of Greatness

Yesterday and today I have been in the presence of greatness. Did you ever wonder what it takes to be great and thought you just didn't have it or would you ever get there? Lot's of people idol worship, are crazied about some stupid singer or sports person, they have posters, t-shirts, records, movies all kinds of stuff from the person they just can't wait to me or want to be like because they consider them the greatest.

I have never been one to be a crazied about someone else - I must admit to an Elvis craze back when I was little bitty, but that was it. We all put our pants on the same way, none of us is better than the other and just because someone makes millions of dollars to shoot a ball into a basket doesn't make them great. It makes them talented. Just because someone makes millions of dollars because they dress stupid and sing silly songs doesn't make them great, it makes them talented to some people.

.

Jesus said "Anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf welcomes me, and anyone who welcomes me also welcomes my FATHER who sent me. Whoever is the least among you is the greatest." But yesterday and today I felt greatest all around, pure, sincere, sweet, joyful GODLY greatest and it came in the most loving form.

Carter Dean was sitting at the table and he looked at me and said "TaTa, when Papaw comes back from Heaven, he will be well right? He doesn't need his medicine anymore because GOD made him all better right?" Then I explained to him that Papaw was in Heaven, he was all better and that we would go to him someday, that he wasn't coming to us. Carter Dean put a big smile on his face and said "And Uncle Bo too, because I love him, he's the best ! I'm glad Uncle Bo and Papaw are together TaTa " Carter Dean - Greatest number one !

Greatness number two - Ian was sitting at that same kitchen table 12 hours later, he looks at me and says "TaTa, do you ever get lonely?" I said - "Yes, I do sweetie. How about you?" Ian said. "Yes, sometimes. TaTa, will you have to sell your house or will you get to stay here?" We sit down on the couch and talk about his fears for me and his concerns. Once I feel comfortable with where we are, he turns to me and says "TaTa, if you ever get lonely in the middle of the night, you can come to our house and spend the night with us. Anytime !" I just felt GREATNESS number two !

We don't have pictures of rock stars, sports stars or so called famous people in our home we have pictures of the GREATEST in our home - Carter Dean and Ian !

Death effects everyone, we adults get wrapped up in our own grief and sometimes fail to see the small faces and hearts standing right in front of us. We should never forget that the smallest have the greatest needs and the greatest gifts to give. I walked in GREATNESS and felt GOD's blessings. I have survived a very difficult week-end because of the GREATNESS of two amazing GOD filled little boys.
