The Strength and Beauty of a Mother Named Hannah

It's the eve of Mothers's Day, many of us are reflecting on what it is to be a Mother, what our Mothers' are like and making plans for tomorrow. We have talented, beautiful, graceful, funny, quiet, loud, big, little, old, young, silly, serious, loving, and even harsh, strict Mothers.

Words of every kind can be used to describe our Mothers or as we look at ourselves and the coat of Motherhood to describe us.. There are women who want to be Mothers that aren't and women who are Mothers' that probably shouldn't be. There are daughters whose Mothers are in Heaven and Mother's whose children are in Heaven. There are Mothers to fit every description you can think, imagine or dream of. There are even nightmare mothers that you wish you had never heard of.

But, if you pick up your Bible and read, GOD will open your eyes to amazing stories of Motherhood unlike any other you will ever hear. Stories of Mother's that had faith that would move mountains, faith that would sustain an entire nation and love enough to overcome all hardships and even bullying by other family members.

GOD will share with you the beauty of the true meaning of Motherhood, how every child is a gift from HIM, that we as Mothers' are gifted our children for as long as HE sees fit and it is up to us to follow HIS path. That we are to teach our children the love of GOD, to serve the LORD first and to put GOD's desires before even our own.

Hannah was one of GOD's chosen Mother's. She was a childless woman, tormented by Elkanah's other wife Peninnah because Peninnah had children and Hannah had none. Hannah cried in deep anguish and in bitter tears to GOD for a son. Promising to give him back to GOD for his entire lifetime to serve the LORD. GOD heard her prayers and she gave birth to a son named Samuel. When the boy was weaned she took him to the temple and gave him over to Eli to be trained in the ways of the LORD for all his days.

While reading Hannah's story, I thought about how difficult it must have been to have the one thing you wanted most in life given to you, knowing that you must give it back to GOD as promised. Before she even got to really know him. She only saw him once a year after she gave him over to serve the LORD.

Hannah prayed and rejoiced to the LORD thanking HIM for her joy. Hannah was a woman of honor, she kept her promise to GOD and HE rewarded her, she later had three more sons and two daughters. She taught her children well to honor their LORD first and when you do, HE will protect HIS faithful ones and made your life joyful and fullfilled.

So on this Mother's Day Eve, I pray that my children will remember the lessons of love that their Father and I taught them. Knowing Bo is in Heaven with his FATHER and his Dad I know he is experiencing this first hand. I pray for Jill and thank GOD that I have her in my life. I thank GOD that my children were raised in a GODLY home and learned the value of serving the LORD. Tonight I thank GOD that my Mother introduced me to my FATHER with stories of HIS amazing Grace before I was ever born.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY EVE MY FRIENDS - May we all become a liitle more like Hannah to our children starting this Mother's Day !
