It's A Beautiful Friday

Today is a day like many other Fridays for most people. For me, it's different very different. The sun was so bright, the sunrise extremely colorful, vibrant colors on the horizon. I was so reminded of a Friday much like this one year ago today, the air was much cooler that day, brisk the last of the winter chill still in the air but none the less the sunrise was also beautiful that Friday.

The night had been restful at times, we snuggled, told each other we loved each other, me with words, D with his eyes and kisses. He held me close, close as our bodies would allow without being morphed into one person. It was a beautiful night even with the ups and downs, the topsy turvy turmoil of the dying process. It was as if we knew.

Morning broke with the promise of the end in sight, sunshine, that cool crisp air, windows open, praise and worship music on the radio, a promise of a bath, clean sheets and the family gathering close by. You could hear the birds singing, lawnmowers in the background, life continuing on all around, whispers in the kitchen, phones ringing, talking, busy work and all the time we are focused on each other.

The family gathers, we weep and say goodbye,we know that this is the time to say goodbye, the heavenly escorts have come to take D home, a peace enters his body, he looks at me, I want to believe he sees me, but in truth I know that he is already seeing the blessings of the life that is greater than anything I know.

It was a day much like today, it was a beautiful Friday in March 2011 when D got his HEAVEN date - March 18, 2011.
