He Will Never Not Know Love
From the moment he was knitted together in his mother's womb he was loved, not just by GOD, but by thousands of people, many he has yet to even meet. From the second we found out of his existence, he was loved. From the first heartbeat, the first kick, the first ultrasound, the first sight of the top of his head crowning, the cutting of the cord, the first cry, he was loved.
Was he cuter, smarter, funnier, more unique than any other child, probably not but to us he is. He is our first born grandson. The love of Papaw, Tata, Uncle Bo and his Mom and Dad's lives. He brightened up our normal routines, changed our existence and taught us a new level of love. He literally changed our world like we didn't know it could be changed.
He has known heartache, heartbreak, pain, sadness and deep loss, but .... he has never not known love and with my dying breathe he will always always know love.
He knows the love of his Mother and Daddy, his little brother and he cherishes the love of his Papaw and Uncle Bo. He and I have a special bond that goes deep, we share secrets, laughter, a silliness that keeps me young. We are best friends, partners in crime, we fight each other and forgive each other quickly. We respect one another. He is the more than a grandson, he is another part of me.
Ian is intelligent, smarter than me by far, teaches me when we are together, has a gentle heart and a giving soul. He does not see color in his world, he sees people, I admire that in him. He hates to see his Mother and me cry, he loves to laugh, pick on Carter Dean and play jokes on others. He is a loyal friend, strives to make his Dad proud in everything he does and is absolutely the most handsome 10 year old I know.
Ian will always know love because he gave his heart to Jesus. He will always know love because he has known it for every second of his life and all of us around him will live our lives to make sure that he never doubts that he is loved, cherished and blessed. I am so fortunate to have this beautiful child in my life for all of his life. Happy 10th Birthday Ian Colby my "E" man - I love you to Heaven and back
