Happy Halloween !

Happy Halloween !  Halloween is full of memories past - long ago of laughter, joy, excitement and anticipation of a young child anxiously waiting for school parties, candy, trick or treating.  Of counting the minutes till Momma gets home from work and the day begins to fade into night so the fun can begin.  Of school carnivals, games and prizes, of rushing from door to door to see if the neighbors will recognize him and then driving to a relatives house because "Momma" promised to bring him by to show off that costume.  Of talking non-stop about all the goodies he received and "CAN YOU BELIEVE WHAT NANAW GAVE ME? SHE REALLY LOVES ME DOESN'T SHE?"  Yes, my child she does !

For the first 5 years of his life it was just Mom and him racing, laughing, tripping and spilling candy over the yards.  Picking out his choice of costumes or making up a costume and then magic happened and GOD gifted us D and Jill.  Halloweens became a real adventure.  He looked forward to costume design even more.  Jill dressed as a princess and he as a ghost from a simple bedsheet with a white face.  D would spend hours coming up with ways to scare the kids and every year they would try to guess what was coming - they could never meet his imagination.  From a old woman clown to Jason with a live chainsaw in the house he had them going.

Jill sometimes looked out for him and other times he looked out for her.  Over the years they grew up and costumes along with trick or treating went away.  Times changed as does life.

D and I had taught our children to love the fun and adventures of Halloween, we decorated our home, gave out tons of candy and enjoyed the costumes of the children that came to our door.  Over the years we changed as well, one year much to Jill's dismay we turned our back on Halloween.  I thought our child was going to disown us.  She didn't understand and as much as her Dad tried to explain it to her I am not sure he ever succeeded in convincing her of his reason.

Again, time changed us, we had grandchildren and decided that in order for us to enjoy the same fun we had with our own children we should revisit Halloween and the fun of our past.  Halloween is different now, but not really.  The boys look forward with great anticipation in costumes, candy and knocking on doors.  I hope when they leave my house they say "WOW, Tata REALLY LOVES ME DID YOU SEE WHAT SHE GAVE ME FOR HALLOWEEN !" and their Momma says, "She loves you to Heaven and Back every second of everyday not just on Halloween !

Happy Halloween my Friends !!  Sometimes Halloween is everyday of the year !!!
